Q: Can I give my dog cheese as a treat? I've heard they love it, and I see it on TikTok all of the time.

Auntie M: While it's understandable that dogs enjoy the taste of cheese (as do I), it's important to be cautious with this treat. Cheese is high in fat and lactose, which can be difficult for some dogs to digest. Excessive fat intake may lead to digestive issues such as diarrhea or upset stomach.

Moreover, many dogs are lactose intolerant, and feeding them cheese could result in discomfort and gastrointestinal distress. Instead, consider dog-friendly alternatives like a piece of freshly boiled meat, one of my jerky treats, or some cooked veggies or fruits. Always introduce new foods in moderation and monitor your pet for any adverse reactions.
