⁉️Is garlic, toxic to dogs? ⁉️ The answer: no way! ‼️ So why is it on the “do not feed list“?
🐾
Well, 21 years ago an experiment was conducted by Japanese scientists who wanted to know what would happen if dogs were fed A LOT of Garlic Extract for 7 days straight. They fed the equivalent of 245 cloves of garlic to a 70lb golden retriever n for one week (2.46lbs of raw garlic). 🤦🏻‍♀️ BUT NO DOGS DIED. Garlic in this excess could easily aggravate a dog’s stomach, and that is never recommended. But like… who in their right mind would do that?! 🙄

🧄 Garlic is nature’s antibiotic! It helps to boost immunity, lower blood pressure, reduce metal toxicity, has a host of vitamins - including vitamin C, and also contains antioxidants that may help prevent dementia. Plus, people who live in the 💙 Blue Zones 💙 of the planet (the areas where people live the longest), regularly consume garlic in their diets! Some people say that it will help to repel fleas, although that is not proven. 🤷🏻‍♀️
🐾
Every holistic veterinarian recommends adding garlic to your dogs food, so while it has been a mainstay on the do not feed list, stomach upset usually only occurs if you feed large amounts. I have never experienced any issues feeding garlic to my dogs, customer dogs, or any dogs in my care. If you still feel nervous about feeding it, that’s OK! You can skip it, but I urge you to give it a try.

You can add garlic to your homemade recipe before you meal prep it or you can add it directly to the bowl at feeding time. Make sure that you always crush the garlic to activate it beneficial properties, and wait 15 minutes after crushing before you’re going to add it to heat or food that will be heated. ♨️ Dogspeed! 💕Auntie M
